This is what your website should look like to attract customers.

Basic website conversion techniques: A website analysis on Chloe’s Cleaning

Web design can have a huge impact on your business!

Your website is the front cover of your entire business, what your potential customers first see when they are starting to research whether they should hire or buy from you or not. And the thing is, first impressions matter. This is why you want your website to be appealing, reliable, and to motivate users to become customers.

But, how do you know your website is good? We did a review of Chloe’s Cleaning’s website and provided a few tips and ideas on how to optimize it.

Catch the user’s attention immediately!

According to an article from Forbes, it takes a user only 50 milliseconds to form an opinion about your website. Therefore, deciding whether or not it’s reliable and has what they’re looking for is a quick thought process, so finding the right information should be easy for them. Writing a good, convincing headline is one of the best ways to do that.

The headline is the first thing the user actively reads when they enter the website and the first thing they notice about your business. Make it remarkable! Show the benefit that your business provides. Take advantage of the first opportunity that you have to convince the potential client to stay.

“Enjoy a Cleaner Living Space” is a great headline. Chloe’s Cleaning company did an amazing job at promoting a benefit that people want and that the business can provide. People don’t want to hire a cleaning service, they want a clean home.

Have clear “calls to action”

The difference between a user and a potential customer can be whether or not you motivate them to make a purchase. Showing them the right information and the opportunity to buy a service or a product right away will make it easier for them to make the decision.

A customer wants to know what you do and if your business is a good fit for them and their needs. You have three seconds to answer the questions that they might have, and give them what they’re looking for to continue browsing the website. Tell them exactly what you do, how, and what they can do to obtain the benefit that you’re selling.

This is what “calls to action” (or “CTA”) are for. A few buttons with the right information make it very simple for the user to make a purchase. These buttons and content should be clear, straightforward, and easy to understand.

We can see some good CTAs on Chloe’s website. They are visible and clear from the first second the user enters the website, and they give the right information about what the user should do: “Get a Quote” and “Book Now”. It makes the business reliable and the buying experience enjoyable for the customer.

Although changing the colors and establishing hierarchies between the CTA buttons will make it even more clear, they did a great job at providing a good and effective user experience.

Offer a special benefit

Giving a discount or offering something special makes people eager to make a purchase. This works particularly well when the offering is limited either by time or quantity. Since people want to make use of it, they will probably buy quicker

On Chloe’s Cleaning website they have some very well-designed CTAs, but advertising some type of aggressive discount could attract more customers and increase conversions.

Always give people the option to spend more money

People want to see what you have to offer. Showing them they can buy more from you will make them consider products or services that they hadn’t even thought of.

Think about this situation: You are at the grocery store, all set and ready to pay when you see candy or gum while standing in line. Now you probably want some, so you grab it. When you’re designing a website you should think about working with the same strategy. Tell the customer what they want before they leave.

If a user is on your website they are already interested in what you have to offer, show them plenty of options which might appeal to them. People will buy more than you can ever sell them, you just have to let them know what’s available.  This enabled you to increase average order value (or “AOV”) and ROI.

Check out the way Chloe’s Cleaning gives you the option to “Select Extras” right before you book a service. Maybe the customer hadn’t thought about cleaning the fridge before, but after seeing the option they know it’s probably a good idea. Now they might book an extra service!

Now you can implement some of these techniques into your own website!

At the end of the day, what your customers want is a user-friendly experience. It should be easy to read and interact with, but also offer what they want before they have to look for it. Giving them benefits, showing extra products and services, and even providing resources will make them connect with your business and feel comfortable buying from you.
